At Reclame Fabriek, we faced a unique challenge when approached to create Circus/retro style box letters in small sizes, which traditionally isn’t feasible due to the large size of available light bulbs. However, thanks to our innovative R&D department CUBE, we found a way to break through this limitation by developing custom-sized bulbs.
In the past, it was nearly impossible to produce small illuminated box letters, as the standard bulb sizes couldn’t accommodate designs under a certain height. Now, with our ability to manufacture bulbs in any size, starting from just 15mm in diameter, as well as in any shape, color, or transparency, we are capable of producing small Circus letters starting at just 100mm in height.
To demonstrate this breakthrough, we created box letters with a height of 195mm, featuring bulbs with a 20mm diameter. These unique bulbs are made of polymeric materials that are UV-resistant, temperature-resistant, and highly durable. This makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, while maintaining a beautiful retro glow.
Not only are these bulbs customizable and robust, but we’ve also designed the lighting system with full functionality in mind. The multifunction controller, designed and manufactured by CUBE, allows for various lighting modes and adjustments. Moreover, maintenance is simple, with all components—including LEDs, bulbs, and internal wiring—designed for easy replacement, ensuring long-term durability and reliability.
While we’ve mastered small-size box letters, this same technology can be applied to larger designs as well, with letter heights of 500mm, 600mm, 1000mm, or even more. Whether for a bold indoor display or an eye-catching outdoor installation, our custom Circus-style letters offer endless possibilities, maintaining both aesthetic beauty and practical resilience.
